Day 65, October 5th 2007 (Las Vegas,NV to Las Vegas,NV)

After enjoying another good breakfast for the morning I went down to the bike shop. It wasn't but maybe a mile away and it was nice to ride my bike without all of the luggage on the back. I picked up some brake pads and then came back to the house to put them on. I was able to get that and my laundry done over the afternoon. Then it was time to take the tour of the city. We weren't very far from the Las Vegas Strip and only had to go about a mile into town. We were just off of Flamingo Av which was a big area in town. The entire strip was packed and it was unbelievable to see so many people . There were so many different types of people out tonight and it was crazy to see the diversity of the crowd. Apparently Las Vegas was on the rise of becoming a much more popular place for the family. I didn't realize it, but there were so many families at the strip and parents who had probably dropped their kids off for awhile so they could do their own thing. It was astonishing to see. What caught my eye the most wasn't the crowd though. The strip was lined with so many different themes all the way down. From New York New York, where the corner looked like the city, to huge hotels with enormous fountains in the front. It was an incredibly well set up place and seemed like a remarkable amount of time had been put into the area. Inside the casinos was a world in it's own. People were dropping money down left and right and it was incredible to see their conviction to what was going on in front of them. The ceilings inside the casino were lined with blue skies and white clouds. It gave the effect that it was daylight in the area and it was incredible to see. It was making more sense to me why it always seemed like daytime in Vegas. We spent the evening walking into one place after another and before we knew it, we were in a casino and it was around midnight. We started to head back to the house and by the time we got out of the doors and got a cab it was fairly late. I was exhausted and it had been quite the day. So many different things had been seen in the area and it was magnificent how it all managed to continue in the center of a desert. I couldn't get over the idea and it still continued to amaze me.
